We’ve already brought you highlights from our time at the convention as well as some nice shots of the Arkansas and Mid-America Cup competitions! This post is bringing you some photos depicting the competition actually sponsored by Flower Shop Network at the AFA convention this year. It was called “So You Think You Can Design?” and rewarded the winners with cold hard cash!
A view of the setup before the beginning of the competition. Looks like they had plenty of seating!
A look at the design teams as they sprawled across the stage!
Another view of the contestants.
Once the competition began in earnest, the crowd ceased being content with mere sitting and watching. They wanted to get involved!
And here is the completed entry lineup!
This begins a series of close-ups of each of the entries in no particular order … Entry number 1, looking good!
Entry number 2 is very nice. Well done!
I really like the way this third entry spreads the red around. Excellent job!
This fourth designer focused more on clusters, but it works! Nice!
A good piece. This fifth entry takes the focus off the roses and uses them more as accents.
I really like this layout! Nicely done!
Wow, I really like this one also! Our seventh and final entry! So, the winners are …
3rd Place goes to Jean Moser of Little Rock Flower Shop in Little Rock, AR and Robby Walls of Petals & Stems in Alma, AR. Great job!
2nd Place was awarded to, Jeanette McArthur from North Hills Florist in Sherwood, AR and Lisa Neumeier Bobel from L Designs in Fort Smith, AR. Excellent job ladies!
Last, but certainly not least, 1st Place was earned by Mike Koch, AMF from Cathy’s Flowers in Russelville, AR and Kara Admire from Tanarah Luxe Floral in Little Rock, AR! We are oh so proud to say that both of the first place contestants are Flower Shop Network members. It just proves that FSN members are the BEST florists in the business!
Here’s a close-up, and better picture, of the winning design. Great job again!
I hope you enjoyed this recap of the Flower Shop Network sponsored competition “So You Think You Can Design?” If you were present for the competition, be sure to leave some comments below. If not, there’s always next year!
Very cool arrangements. I work at a flower shop in Houston and I’m sure some of my coworkers would love to be put to the test! Does AFA have a competition in the South/SW???
Thanks for the blog and pics!!
Paula,
It is my understanding that the AFA Mid-America Cup invites the winners from each state’s internal competitions. For example, the Texas State Floral Association holds the Texas Cup every year. The winner of the Texas Cup is then invited to participate in the Mid-America Cup. Hope this answers your question! Thanks for reading!
