I really like your site. I am having a problems with my Lucky Bamboo Plant. It is about 1 year old ,really tall and green. All of a sudden some of the stalks are yellow (2 of them) all the others remain green. It is in a vase that they came in. I keep it watered. What should I do. Can you please give me any advice? Thank You
Susan
Susan,
Have you fertilized it lately; if so how? Yellowing can be caused by over fertilization. Are the stalks still firm or do they feel soft and mussy? For the time being remove the yellow stalks from the container. If the stalks are yellow from the bottom up — cut the bottom off and place in a container with fresh distilled water.
Thanks for getting back to me so soon. I have never fertilized it. I did not now if I needed to. My plant was bought in the mall by my grandsons as a present to me. The bad thing is there were no instructions on how to take care of it. They told them just to water it. I guess that I should have asked you earlier. The stalks are not mushy at all ,they are hard just like the green ones. I really love my plant it was so beautiful .
Thanks for your help.

Susan,
I think your plants will be ok. Lucky bamboo needs to be only lightly fertilized and changing the water correctly is important. Flower Shop Network has a great article on lucky bamboo. Just go up and click on newsletters and find the article titled Caring for Lucky Bamboo. Hope this helps
