Rose & Tulip Arrangement - Great Lakes Floral Expo Photos

Recently, part of the FSN team visited Michigan for the 2012 Great Lakes Floral Expo! It is one of our favorite floral conventions and we look forward to going ever year. The over-all theme of the show this year was Sell-O-Bration and discussed how florists everywhere can rise to the top through Outperforming, Outmaneuvering, and Outselling their competition.

In the animal kingdom, survival of the fittest is the rule. Survival is good – no doubt about it – but thriving is better. The challenge for many floral professionals is going from surviving the current competitive business environment to thriving in it. – Dick Gleason, CF, Conference Vice Chairman.

There were several hands-on sessions, including presentations on wedding design, body flowers, flower photography and much more. Florists also attended presentations on marketing and online resources, and of course – everyone’s favorites – the floral competitions.

I could talk all day about the Great Lakes Floral Expo, but I know you’re here to see the pictures!! Without further adieu…

FSN Spring Celebration!

It’s feeling like SPRING here at Flower Shop Network headquarters! Today temperatures reached over 80° — the perfect weather to cook out! And that’s just what we did!

FSN President Brock Atwill broke out the grill and cooked us all delicious burgers, chicken burgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs and bratwurst! OH YAH! The FSN crew also brought tons of sides and desserts that would make anyone’s mouth water! Well, it’s time for round 2! Enjoy these pictures:

Blog Announcement: New Features

I am so excited about the new changes that were added to the Bloomin Blog yesterday, I had to share with you guys.

First of all, the blog is a massive collection of articles all about flowers, taking care of flowers, ideas for florists, local florist spotlights and so much more. Because of it’s size, it’s become very hard to navigate around to your favorite subjects. Well, we’ve added a few things to make it even easier to find what you’re looking for.

As you are browsing posts on the main pages of the blog, you will see them all end with this:

Blog Tags

This little box shows you what tags were added, where it was filed and how many comments it has.

  • Tags

I’ve been tagging blog posts for years, but they’ve never really been accessible for you the reader. Now they are, and I am very excited about it.

Now, for instance, if you are looking for information on Red Roses, but find a post about Valentines Day, you can now click the Red Roses tag at the bottom of the post to see every single post we’ve ever written about Red Roses.

This is great because we don’t have a Red Roses blog category and it’s almost impossible to find them all any other way. [Read more…]

Florist Says Thank You To FSN Team Member

Thank You Flowers From Local Florist

One of our awesome florists made someone’s day in a big way here at Flower Shop Network! Yesterday, Leslie Cox, one of our reps here at FSN, was surprised with beautiful flowers from one of the florists in her territory!

Terry Wagner and “The Grumpy Old Man” (as the card message read) from Wagner’s Flower Shop in Torrington, WY, sent flowers to Leslie after Valentines Day to thank her for her part in the success of Valentines Day!

This is so exciting for everyone on our team. We have received great feedback from local florists everywhere and are proud to have been a part of their success in anyway. We hope to continue to help florists promote themselves and know the success of Valentines Day is just a warm up for Mothers Day.

I can’t end this post without mentioning Alvin Taylor’s Flowers here in Paragould AR. They are the shop that filled the order from Wagner’s in Wyoming and delivered it to Leslie at FSN Headquarters. It was absolutely stunning and stylish (and smelled amazing!).

Last but not least, I want to thank ALL of our shops who worked so hard this Valentines Day to make such an impact on the lives of others! You guys ROCK!

Treat-Yourself Tuesday — Because You Deserve It

Treat-Yourself Tuesday

This weekend was such a BUSY shopping weekend — Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday. Well, we decided today is Treat-Yourself Tuesday. Why not pamper yourself with all the money you SAVED over the weekend? Ever girl loves flowers; start your day of pampering by having flowers delivered to your home or office. It only takes about 5 minutes to order (remember local, local, local!), and your whole week will be enhanced by the beautiful flowers and lovely fragrances. Your florist will take care of everything and deliver them right to your door! (Santa better look out!)

If you shopped as much as I did, I know you need a pick-me-up this week, and fresh flowers are just the ticket! Some might hesitate at buying flowers for yourself, but why not? Forget red roses, you can choose a style that is all your own with your favorite colors and flowers. You might be surprised just how many beautiful types of floral designs are out there. Tell your florist about your favorite things, and let them create a custom arrangement just for you.

Flowers make your day better, but don’t stop there! Continue Treat-Yourself Tuesday with a nice hot bath, your favorite teas or wines, a good book. You’ve spent all weekend thinking about gifts for others, make this Tuesday all about YOU.

Flower Shop Network is an advocate for real local flower shops. To find your local florist, click here.

Leave The Flowers To Us! — Benefits of Local Florists

I know around here we are always repeating “local local local!” but just what is the importance of using a local florist when ordering flowers?

Best Deal In Flowers is Local

Flower Arrangements From Local FloristDid you know by finding and using a real local florist you could ADD as much as 30% MORE to your flower order? Many websites online promise flowers, but take a large percentage of your order for their own pockets before they send it to a florist to be created. (Not FSN of course!)  This is not a good deal for you OR your florist.

How to tell if a florist is local:

  • Local Physical Address
  • Phone Number To The Shop Directly

Flower Shop Network makes it easy for you to buy online from a real local florist. When you select a flower arrangement from our Flower Gallery, you will be instantly connected to a REAL local florist in your community. You can also visit our directory and choose your own florist anywhere in the US & Canada!

Best Quality Flowers & Flower Delivery

Your local florist will have the freshest and best selection of flowers, hands-down. When you send a friend flowers from a local florist, you know they will be fresh and beautiful. A local florist would never dream of delivering your flowers in a box for your friend to put together themselves. (Yes, it happens!) Also, a local flower shop in your city will know the area and won’t get lost when delivering your important order.

Local Quality

Florists in your area will have expert knowledge of what flowers work best and last the longest in your area. Some florists even use locally grown flowers when available. If you host a lot of outdoor events, a florist local to the area is going to know the ins and outs of keeping your flowers looking their best throughout the entire occasion. You just can’t go wrong with a good local florist.

What if I want to send flowers to a friend who is not in my city? How do I find a local florist?

This is exactly where FSN’s local florist directory comes in handy! Here you can find real florists, as well as reviews, maps, and more!

So remember, for the best quality, service and freshest flowers — when you think flowers, think local!
