Bosses Day at Flower Shop Network

Today is Bosses Day! We couldn’t let it pass without doing something special for our own bosses. So, what do you get the bosses that have everything?

Our sales team came up with a fantastic plan with benefits that go beyond FSN. Many (very many) of our staff have kids in school. Instead of having a party or buying them a cake (we of course got them flowers!!), they all chipped in and brought items to donate to our local food bank’s kids Backpack Program. All of the items donated are easy for kids to make themselves. These will be given away to kids in need at local schools.

FSN has a huge heart for kids. We have frequently been apart of the local backpack program here in town. This donation in honor of our great bosses for Bosses Day might be our biggest yet! Way to go team!

FSN at the 2012 Oklahoma State Florist Convention

Flower Shop Network had the fantastic opportunity to attend the 2012 Oklahoma State Florist Association‘s Convention July 28 – 29th! A convention filled with beautiful flowers, great workshops and top-notch competitions, including the Oklahoma Cup Competition!

Gorgeous flower arrangements in the Flower Shop Network booth. These were created by the talented Tammy Martens, designer at Generations Flowers & Gifts, Broken Arrow OK.

Here is Tammy Martens with her award from the Oklahoma State Florist Association. Way to go Tammy! (The biggest arrangement in the photo above was created specifically for the FSN booth [and we loved it!], the others were used in the competition.)

For those of you with an FSN website, you’re sympathy section has been expanded into 4 categories:

Funeral Flowers – This is the original Funeral Flowers page from your FSN website.
Standing Sprays – Category for standing sprays only.
Casket Flowers – All casket designs will appear here, including flowers for cremation urns.
Sympathy Arrangements – This category is for smaller, vase, urn or basket arrangements

Photos From The Great Lakes Floral Expo

Recently, part of the FSN team visited Michigan for the 2012 Great Lakes Floral Expo! It is one of our favorite floral conventions and we look forward to going ever year. The over-all theme of the show this year was Sell-O-Bration and discussed how florists everywhere can rise to the top through Outperforming, Outmaneuvering, and Outselling their competition.

In the animal kingdom, survival of the fittest is the rule. Survival is good – no doubt about it – but thriving is better. The challenge for many floral professionals is going from surviving the current competitive business environment to thriving in it. – Dick Gleason, CF, Conference Vice Chairman.

There were several hands-on sessions, including presentations on wedding design, body flowers, flower photography and much more. Florists also attended presentations on marketing and online resources, and of course – everyone’s favorites – the floral competitions.

FSN Spring Celebration!

It’s feeling like SPRING here at Flower Shop Network headquarters! Today temperatures reached over 80° — the perfect weather to cook out! And that’s just what we did!

FSN President Brock Atwill broke out the grill and cooked us all delicious burgers, chicken burgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs and bratwurst! OH YAH! The FSN crew also brought tons of sides and desserts that would make anyone’s mouth water! Well, it’s time for round 2! Enjoy these pictures:

I am so excited about the new changes that were added to the Bloomin Blog yesterday, I had to share with you guys.

First of all, the blog is a massive collection of articles all about flowers, taking care of flowers, ideas for florists, local florist spotlights and so much more. Because of it’s size, it’s become very hard to navigate around to your favorite subjects. Well, we’ve added a few things to make it even easier to find what you’re looking for.

Florist Says Thank You To FSN Team Member

One of our awesome florists made someone’s day in a big way here at Flower Shop Network! Yesterday, Leslie Cox, one of our reps here at FSN, was surprised with beautiful flowers from one of the florists in her territory!

Terry Wagner and “The Grumpy Old Man” (as the card message read) from Wagner’s Flower Shop in Torrington, WY, sent flowers to Leslie after Valentines Day to thank her for her part in the success of Valentines Day!

This is so exciting for everyone on our team. We have received great feedback from local florists everywhere and are proud to have been a part of their success in anyway. We hope to continue to help florists promote themselves and know the success of Valentines Day is just a warm up for Mothers Day.

I can’t end this post without mentioning Alvin Taylor’s Flowers here in Paragould AR. They are the shop that filled the order from Wagner’s in Wyoming and delivered it to Leslie at FSN Headquarters. It was absolutely stunning and stylish (and smelled amazing!).

Last but not least, I want to thank ALL of our shops who worked so hard this Valentines Day to make such an impact on the lives of others! You guys ROCK!

Merry Christmas From FSN!
