Did Donald Duck Send Daisy The April Birth Month Flower?

After reading about the birth month flower of April, I began to ponder that somewhat philosophical question. I suppose it’s possible that he did to be quirky. Good on him if he did. It’s a clever gift!

Even if your girlfriend, daughter, mother, aunt, or other female friend carries another moniker, daisies are a great gift for people with an April birthday. Being the birth month flower of April, daisies are a very unique gift idea. It means a lot to have someone give you a gift that is very thought out, very detailed or significant in some manner. That’s exactly what sending birth month flowers represents.

I’m one of the lucky ones that gets to buy gifts for five birthdays in April. Buying birthday gifts can get monotonous unless I find something really clever. Thankfully, that’s where birth month flowers come into play. My sister Shannon turns 22 during the middle of April. My best friend shares her birthday but will be a year older. My grandmother celebrates her birthday late in the month. My pastor’s son will be 13 this year. To top it all off, my favorite coworker’s birthday is the day before Shannon’s. Wow!

Now that I have a list of people celebrating an April birthday, it seems only natural to try to find a similar gift for all of them and take the hassle out of the gift buying process. Much to my great pleasure, sending a bouquet of daisies to each is a unique gift that they will all remember. None will be offended by sending a similar arrangement to someone else. Plus, I can buy daisy flower arrangements from my local florist all at once. That’s a pretty big perk since I do not often venture into stores to shop.

Have a crazy month like mine? Keep April calm by sending birth month flower arrangements from a local florist.

Did You Know That There Are Zodiac Flowers For Aries?

If you caught last year’s blog about Aries zodiac flowers, this will be a great reminder. If you missed that post, you’re in for a real treat!

"Timeless Tulips Bouquet" of Flowers

"Timeless Tulips Bouquet" of Flowers

Zodiac or astrological flowers are usually sent to someone with a birthday that falls under a particular zodiac sign. These are not flowers that florists stand over like shamans. They have no tom foolery attached. They simply represent the same general qualities that people possess who are born within that time frame. For April, these flowers are tulips, red roses, and amaryllis.

I’m sure you’re wondering (as I did at first) what tulips, red roses, and amaryllis have to do with the Aries zodiac sign. There are a few qualities that Aries are said to possess that can easily be seen in these flowers. For example, Aries are generally innovative people full of ideas and energy. They put the “get up and go” in most situations. This makes sense since Aries is the first sign in the zodiac. Aries tend to be daring, impulsive, desire first place or the most attention and want to work without restriction. Here’s what their astrological flowers have in common:

Tulips: Tulips are the perfect zodiac flowers for Aries because they are beautiful, full of charm, and are second to none in many arrangements. They stand out above the crowd with a stunning simplicity that can’t be matched.

Red Roses: Ah, the truest signs of romance. Red roses arrangements are sent for many occasions. Whatever that event may be, it’s almost always the sight of the red roses that gets the night up and running. They conjure up visions of romantic events. They’re the dreamer’s flower. They’re also great for many different occasions which goes hand in hand with the Aries tendency to start many projects.

Amaryllis: Absolutely gorgeous amaryllis are a fiery flower that couldn’t be more perfectly placed with another zodiac sign. Aries is the god of war, i.e. a very fiery character that lives in the moment with a fierce intensity. People falling under the Aries sign are said to have these characteristics, however sublimated. For the fiery Aries in your life, there is no better addition to a birthday flower arrangement than amaryllis.

Hip Hop Into Easter Because "Somebunny Loves You"

Hip Hop Into Easter Because "Somebunny Loves You"

What gains a second look from me?? To be honest, I prefer edgy versions of an original product. Some prefer subdued versions and others delight in the raucous. Whatever it is, there is something to be said for floral industry creations that pique our interest.

Those of us who work in the floral industry take great pride in the trendy new creations that come out of it. The thing that caught my attention recently is a fabulous new trend. I absolutely love how many florists are forming animal shapes out of flowers and accessories. It’s so cool!!

I’ve noticed this trend a lot lately. The Somebunny Loves You arrangement is a particular favorite of mine for this reason. Every chance I get to splash this Easter flower arrangement up is a chance that I take. However, we’re not the only ones doing this. I was browsing the photos at Wedding and Party Network when I stumbled across a puppy formed of daisies. Props to The Garden Girls Flowers & Gifts for being so creative!

For me it’s very much the same as staring at the face of an innocent puppy. They are so cute and charming! How can you resist them? It’s the same feeling when I see flowers arranged to look like a puppy or other cuddly animal. It’s an irresistible appeal.

Animal flower arrangements are awesome gifts for kids. What kid wouldn’t be entertained with a flower animal? Besides, parents love that there’s less clean up! Anyway, check out these types of arrangements. I think you’ll be impressed!

How Flowers Can Make This Her Favorite Anniversary Yet

Flowers are very traditional gifts for anniversaries. However, it’s easy to become jaded to the same gift after several years or even a few other small anniversaries. Flowers are one of those tried-and-true gifts that always please, but even they can use an edgy pick me up sometimes. Here’s a great idea for making this year’s gift of anniversary flowers her favorite yet!

Do you know her favorite flower yet?

If you answered “no,” now’s the time to ask! This year learn her favorite flower. Plant a small garden or window box from seed or bulb. I would totally flip if my honey did this for me. It shows effort because the person planting the seed has to discover the type of flower, get all of the products, plant the flowers, then surprise me with it. Wow!

It gets better.

This is where flower delivery from a local florist comes in handy. Have your florist deliver an arrangement of the same type of flower. This is a great gift because it gives her something to enjoy that she already loves until she’s able to reap the fruits of your labor.

The card is the fun part. There are a couple ways to give a unique card if you use a packet of seeds when planting the flowers. You could ask your florist to slip the enclosure card into the empty packet of seeds. Another idea is to put the packet inside of a standard greeting card. Both the card (greeting or enclosure) and the packet become mementos for the recipient. How sweet!

All of the seemingly laborious effort put into this idea makes it easy for your sweetheart to appreciate this gift. Plus, it’s a win-win for you because you get to team up with your local florist so it’s not that much work at all. I know you’ll love this idea. Let me know how it turns out! Happy Anniversary!

A Unique Occasion For Sending Flowers That Many Overlook

I recently went through the death of a pet with a loved one. Though not my dog, my love for his owner made the event very sad. I could only imagine what my honey was going through. I wanted to be there for him but didn’t know how.

"Peaceful Comfort" Sympathy Flowers

"Peaceful Comfort" Sympathy Flowers

I spoke with Jamie J Adams about it. Having recently lost her dog, Dudley, she knew well the sadness and the grief that a pet owner goes through at this time. We had spoken shortly after losing Dudley about how a friend from her church had sent flowers as a way to express their condolences. She said it really helped both her and Neal.

I know that my sweetheart is not an emotionally expressive person by nature, but the same cannot be said for his young daughter. She was who ran through my mind when I was told about Jamie’s sympathy gift idea. Flowers seemed like the perfect way to comfort her fragile little heart. In my eyes, it’s kind of like a hug. A hug doesn’t make the pain go away but the love expressed with a hug makes the heartache a bit easier to deal with.

I can’t imagine and don’t really want to try to speculate what my life would be like if my dog Kenzie died. However, I do know that Jamie is right on with her notion. I know that fresh flowers would make me feel a bit better. For anyone dealing with the loss of a pet or with a friend experiencing this tragedy, consider sending sympathy flowers as a temporary hug.

Who Else Wants Pink and White Dreams?

Most people dream in black and white or cloudy shades of gray. My nights, however, are filled with Pink and White Dreams. I love the way pink and white melt together to represent tenderness, purity, sincerity, sweetness and gentle romance. Wow. I’d probably marry the man that incorporated those feelings into the message on the card.

I love the way that a simple arrangement of stargazer lilies, pink roses, pink larkspur, white mini carnations, pink snapdragons and white alstroemeria can really change the outlook on the day. Everyone has had a day where crawling out of bed really does seem like a crawl and quite a chore. Bright pink and white flowers put pep in the step and send happy thoughts reeling. I keep fresh bouquets of baby pink carnations on my bedside table just to prevent those morning blahs.

Pink and White Dreams Flower Arrangement Dream in Technicolor with the “Pink and White Dreams” arrangement.

What makes the “Pink and White Dreams” arrangement so much more special wherever it is around the house is that it is a constant reminder of the sender. He or she is probably someone who has laughed with you, cried with you, enjoys the opportunity to learn you better with each passing day, cares enough to send flowers to show it, and wants to sprinkle your nights with Technicolor dreams.

For the men reading this entry, feel free to fill your card with these thoughts. She’ll love them almost as much as she loves you.

Go On! Be Bold With Delphinium!

Know anyone like this?

One of the characteristics that I like to see in people is boldness. Not to be confused with ego or bravado, the type of boldness that I consider appealing is that daring ability to be courageous in the face of danger or adversity. It is having strong enough character to admit convictions that go against the flow or to express opinions that may or may not be the desired ones. I am this kind of person to my friends and I expect the same in return.

The reason that my rant turns to this today is because I was reviewing a list of flower meanings associated with certain blooms that florists use. Delphinium caught my eye then captured my attention with “boldness” listed beside it. When you think about it, how bold do you have to be to remain one of the only true blue cut flowers in a florist shop? Pretty bold I imagine.

I believe that part of the beauty of delphinium comes from its striking color but another part is just how rarely seen that color is in a florist’s grand scheme of things. Pink, red, yellow and green flood the floral industry. They are all gorgeous colors but sometimes I want to see something on the opposite end of the spectrum. That’s where delphinium comes into play.

Do you know someone that is bold or tends to stand out but in a really cool, rather charming way? The next time that gift giving comes around, ask your local florist to include delphinium in the arrangement. Your sweetheart or friend will love the flowers and even more appreciate the card message detailing why you chose delphinium. Your florist can dream up the arrangement while you author the card message but don’t miss the chance for an awesome gift idea like this. It’s why flower meanings are so cool in the first place!

Cubicle Dwellers Take Cheer From Flowers

I have spent many an hour in a cubicle. I’ve undergone those Dilbert™-infused moments where the world seems to be about four feet by four feet and the “earth is round” theory seems invalid at best. Fear not, brave cubicle dwellers. Take heart and take cheer from what I have found to be the freshest solution yet.

I am among those who think that pictures of friends and family help time to pass more smoothly but there is one other thing that returns the mind to fancy. Flower arrangements (my favorites always include carnations) are a breath of fresh air. I especially love receiving flowers at work for my desk. Most ladies and many men are like this. We love the attention, the design and welcome the change to our sometimes stifling containment.

Even if you sit in the corner office (kudos!), there are still times when flowers and plants liven up the place. Jamie J. Adams and I discuss often how the plants in her office are progressing, why they are helpful, and how her extensive nursery background helps her keep them more fresh and lively than any other green thumb.

The simple fact of it is that cubicles and offices need something fresh to keep the creative process rejuvenated. Whether crunching numbers or authoring a novella, every office cubicle needs something pretty to jump-start the mind into refreshing thought.

Know a coworker that needs a little pep in their step? Send some flowers! You’ll love the feeling of helping and he or she will love the reward.

Need A Cool Birthday Gift This March?

Potted Daffodils Are Great Birthday Gifts

Potted Daffodils Are Great Birthday Gifts

It says a lot about you when the flower that you’re holding seems to reach out to hug you. Perhaps I just love flowers and want the favor returned, but this is exactly the image that I’m presented with when gazing upon daffodils.

“Daffodils” is the term associated with flowers of the Narcissus genus, while jonquils are the commonplace term for the specific species, Narcissus jonquilla. Jonquils (Narcissus jonquilla) actually refers to the seventh division of daffodils. Divisions for this flower are based mostly on their different flower forms. Whatever the reason for this extra specificity, jonquils share the title for the birth month flower of March.

With both daffodils and jonquils taking center stage this month, I figured that this would be a great chance to talk up the pretty blooms.

Send Daffodil Flower Arrangements

Whatever term is used, daffodils are (mostly) bright yellow flowers that seem to exude sunshine. Thick and sturdy stems support the colorful portion of the daffodil as there is just too much greatness for a wimpy stem to hold. An uprising “cup” in the center leaves one wondering why ranunculus bears the name “buttercup” instead. It is a truly beautiful flower that is gaining widespread popularity, especially during the spring and summer months.

It’s hard not to take inspiration from this amazing flower. Why would you want a pocket full of posies when you could have a pocket full of sunshine? Potted daffodils make a great addition to any home or office. With March birthdays aplenty, consider potted daffodils as your next big gift idea. It’s also a fun idea to talk with your local florist about using daffodils or flowers that have a similar characteristic that you like. Your florist can create an amazing bouquet based off of your ideas; your great idea taken from the birth month flower of March. See why it’s so easy to love?

A Taste of Love, A Piece of Pisces

Pisces may represent the last sign in the zodiac, but your Pisces is the first in your heart. Self-sacrificing and compassionate, your beloved deserves a beautiful and unique gift on her birthday. If the love of your life was born between February 19th and March 20th then a Pisces-inspired flower arrangement is an excellent and unique gift for her this year!

Pisces tend to be very tolerant, giving, emotionally deep and involved, compassionate and empathetic. These are amazing qualities in a mate or friend. I can see why you love her! However, these endearing traits can also be very draining for Pisces who receive very little in return. Show your sweetheart just how much you love her with a beautiful zodiac flower arrangement from your local florist. Freesia, jasmine, lilac, narcissus, and Madonna lily are fragrant blooms that add pep to the step of Pisces.

It is often difficult to match words to the intense feelings of love, respect, and adoration that we feel for our partners. Rest at ease this time. Learn more about colors associated with flower meanings to find the colors that express your most sincere feelings. The gentle lavender color of lilacs represents femininity and gentility. The milky white of the Madonna lily represents purity, inspiration, and innocence.

Often the flowers themselves have deep meanings. Narcissus sends the message “stay as sweet as you are.” Freesia spread thoughts of trust and innocence. When the right message counts, contact your local florist who will create a flower arrangement perfect for expressing your most romantic feelings.
