FlowerShopNetwork.com And The Cutting Edge Of Search Engine Technology

Brock and Loranne Atwill owners of Flower Shop Network recently attended the SMX Advanced Expo in Seattle, Washington, hosted by Danny Sullivan, an expert in the SEO field.

While attending the conference, they attended seminars concerning search engine optimization techniques, strategies and technology. In addition to seminars and training, they networked with many SEO industry peers. Highlights of the conference were sessions with Google’s Matt Cutts as well as panel discussions with industry leaders from Yahoo, Microsoft, SEOmoz and Netconcepts as well as many others. Brock and Loranne feel it is important to stay abreast of the ever changing climate in which we must compete and do business on the internet. This is just one of the ways FlowerShopNetwork.com stays on the cutting edge of search engine technology to ensure their retail florists members have the best visibility possible on the internet.

The Wonderful Things Florists Do

I love my job. I get to see many things before they occur on our site. Newsletters are one of them. I’m so excited about next weeks Flower Shop Network newsletter – Florists and the Wonderful Things They Do – that I can hardly keep it to myself. Amy Stewart (Dirt blogger and author of Flower Confidential) gives great insight to the wonderful things florists do all over the world and shares them in this newsletter.

Florists are enthusiastically dedicated hardworking individuals who use their talents to help enjoy the beauty of flowers and create memories. It is nice to see someone recognizing all that florists do. After all it’s not just their livelihood but also their way of life.

Flower Shop Network Salutes Arkansas Green Industry Association’s Support of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission

The Arkansas Green Industry Association (ARGIA – formally the Arkansas Nurserymen’s Assoc.) held their annual convention last week in Hot Springs Arkansas. This year the underlying theme was “getting involved” both, with the association and the community. In an effort to get involved, the association gave its support to the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission and it’s environmentally friendly program. Going green and being pro-environment is not a new concept for ARGIA, so supporting the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission was a natural fit. As Anne Fuller, ARGIA director, put it “our industry was green when green wasn’t cool.” Nurseries and landscapers for many years have used organic and recycled products; created green-scapes that encourage the benefits of nature; promoted the benefits of gardening and giving back to the earth. In fact, the [Read more…]

Breast Cancer Awareness Month – How Will You Participate – A Challenge to Florists & Flower Lovers

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation … 10 million people around the world could die from breast cancer in the next twenty-five years without the cures …

Breast Cancer is predominately a disease that affects women. However, men have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Most individuals know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

In the fight against Breast Cancer, groups have banded together to host events like Race for the Cure. Large and small corporations have given time and money to breast cancer research. Many florists and garden centers across the nation have contributed to breast cancer awareness through various activities. A florist shop in Maine supported the CURE Breast Cancer for ME event by giving breast cancer survivors a pink rose corsage with pink ribbon. A garden center in Arkansas and a local hospital promote breast cancer awareness by giving those who have a mammography done in October a pansy.

Whether you Race for the Cure or support a local breast cancer awareness group with flowers, your participation in supporting breast cancer awareness is crucial. Early detection saves lives and with breast cancer research one day we may have a cure.

With that said, I offer this challenge to florists and flower lovers everywhere:

Find a way to promote breast cancer awareness and cancer research and show a breast cancer survivor you support them.

How will I meet this challenge? First, I will give money to support breast cancer research. Second, I will give my Aunt Cathy a flower arrangement with pink gerberas (the flower meaning for gerberas is purity & strength). Third, I will schedule a mammography for myself.

My final act will be to dedicate this blog entry to Cheryl Brown who was a friend, a florist and a fighter.

I’m interested in how you meet the challenge, so let me know.
