Unlike Valentines Day, which focuses on romance and love, Sweetest Day (October 15th 2011) is all about showing kindness to those around us who deserve a little recognition for being so sweet! For example, I have a friend who’s mother, Mrs. Shirley, always seems to have the perfect something whipped up for all occasions. From chess cakes to pecan pie, it seems she constantly bakes delicious treats and gives away her goodies from the kindness in her heart. There is nothing better than getting a mouth-watering, chocolate marble cake ‘just because.’ Her son is a fire chief so, of course her cookies are famous amongst the firemen in our town. (Speaking of firemen, who better deserve a little recognition for all they do for us daily?) It’s sweet people like Mrs. Shirley who brighten our days and deserve something sweet in return.
Need Sweetest Day Gift Ideas?
Sweetest Day gift baskets from your local florist are the perfect gift for the holiday. Not only are they filled with your favorite sweet snacks, but they can be customized to be even more sweet for your special someone. Have a candy gift basket made for your friend who loves to snack. For chocolate lovers, you could do a candy bar gift basket or a gourmet chocolate gift basket, it just depends on your Sweet’s taste.
Sweetest Day is the day to reward those around us who make our lives a little sweeter. Our moms, dads and grandparents all have specific days for attention, but Sweetest Day was created to show our appreciation to the people in our life who often go unrecognized. It can be the person in the office who makes the (good) coffee in the morning, or your dog groomer who goes the extra mile to make your pup look spectacular. So, on Sweetest Day, October 15th, it’s your turn to return the favor.
For people who are unable to eat sweets, but still deserve the recognition, try sending sugar-free candy gift baskets, or go with Sweetest Day flowers instead!
