This year Labor Day falls on Monday, September 1st. (Well, the Monday part you probably already knew …) And on this day celebrating contributions made by the nations workers to the strength, prosperity and well-being of the country, flowers make a fitting tribute. If you’re buying for friend’s or loved ones, you’ll want to put a little something special on the card. Let us help you out with the card messages below.
But don’t think you’re only allowed to buy flowers for others. You’re a worker in this country too. Don’t hesitate to buy some for yourself as well. Remember, like Labor Day, flowers are for everyone!
Don’t forget the flowers this Sunday, August 3rd. It’s Friendship Day!
It began in 1930 as a holiday promoted by Hallmark. It struggled to catch on and was all but dead by the mid-1940’s. But even though it was never the card-giving holiday that greeting card companies had hoped it would be, the holiday found some purchase in Asia which kept it alive to more modern times.
In 1998 in an effort to revitalize the holiday, Nane Annan, wife of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, declared Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of Friendship. The promotional event was co-sponsored by the U.N. Department of Public Information and Disney Enterprises, and co-hosted by Kathy Lee Gifford. There is some debate on whether Friendship Day should be celebrated on July 30th or the first Sunday in August, but whichever day you choose to honor, flowers are inarguably the gift you should be giving!
Friendship Day is considered the day to say, “Thank you” to the only person you had to call when your car died on the side of the road, the one who stood in line with you for hours to buy tickets to see your favorite band and the one who offered a sympathetic ear when you broke up with your significant other. She is your chosen family, the one who is part of your life because you have loved each other for years, have so much in common, and share so many memories that losing her would be like losing your heart.
Friendship Day is about giving back to the one(s) who has given so much. It’s about making a new memory, sharing a new experience, and creating a new tradition.
When looking for the perfect gift, flowers are always the right choice. They provide so many options that incorporate other gift giving ideas. Want to get your bestie a gift card for their preferred music site? It’s a great idea, but gift cards don’t offer much in their presentation. To jazz it up, bring that gift card to your local florist and let them put together a themed arrangement! They can base it off your friend’s favorite band or just music in general. And that’s just one of a multitude of great gift-giving ideas!
Your local florist is a flower artist. They can create something you’ll love and personalize it so that it’s not just a gift for your friend, it’s a gift that symbolizes your friendship. So contact your local florist and see what they can put together for your Friendship Day celebration!
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a time for remembering a great man, reflecting on the dreams he shared and celebrating his accomplishments as well as the life he led. Honoring him requires honoring the values for which he stood, spoke and lived. He dreamed of liberty, freedom and justice. He dreamed of true equality. He dreamed of brotherhood.
Flowers are the perfect gift for this holiday because they say so many things. They say friendship, love, hope and yes, brotherhood. You can share a slice of happiness with strangers by handing out yellow roses to random people you pass on the street. You can extend the hand of friendship to someone with whom you work with but may not know well with a lovely bouquet of daisies, or offer that neighbor with whom you rarely speak a handful of gerberas.
A beautiful arrangement offered to the girl at school who sits alone at lunch or a gladiolus proffered to the boy who gets picked on in the locker room, each of these actions honor the values that Dr. King embodied.
Don’t let this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day pass without doing your part to honor the memory of a man who wanted nothing more than for everyone to love each other and treat everyone as equals.
Valentine’s Day is your big chance to show her how you really feel. And nothing can express that better than flowers!

Holiday shopping is here and the countdown to Christmas is drawing ever closer for 2013. In this season of giving, you might be feeling all warm and fuzzy about the perfect gifts you have found for loved ones but that’s if you started your shopping blissfully early. While you are putting your feet up and nestling in to munch cookies and watch your favorite holiday movie, the rest of us are scrambling around in the cold trying to remember where we parked the car.
Holiday Gift Grind
If you are like me, you are starting to feel that stressful holiday buzz. There are a few people left on your list and heading to shopping centers can be a little hectic right now. Ok, maybe a lot hectic. And let’s be honest – the people whom you are still shopping for aren’t the kids who gave you a mile-long list or your mother-in-law who always wants the same perfume no matter what. The people without presents under the tree are probably all those delightful sorts that just insist they don’t need a gift from you. The nail-biting part of the equation is you know good and well that they have found an excellent, thoughtful gift for you (they started shopping in July, no doubt) and your psyche will never recover if you show up empty-handed to their holiday party.
Christmas Presents in the Bag!
You are in luck because there are unique, beautiful and highly personalize-able gifts to be found at your local florist! From luscious blooms in fantastic seasonal colors to gift baskets filled with goodies to wreaths that speak to the joy of the holiday, there is something that is a perfect fit for all those present naysayers out there.
Lovely flowers artfully arranged in attractive vases and baskets can be delivered right to a recipient’s door – always making it an extra special (and hassle-free!) gift. Order flowers to be delivered the day before her party and your hostess will be overjoyed to have some fresh cut wonderment to add to her decor. Arrange for flowers to be delivered to your friend’s work to show you are thinking about them and to help them get into the Christmas spirit even while on the clock.
Flower arrangements are the best gifts for those who claim they have everything they want. There is nothing to return, nothing is too small and nothing to store somewhere. Just the beauty and aroma of nature to enjoy. This is truly a one-size-fits-all gift that can be as unique as the person receiving them. A few minutes online or a quick call can put you in touch with a talented florist who is skilled at creating a bouquet that expresses the love and cheer you want to give to your family and friends this season.
Always Use A Read Local Florist
The sooner you reach out to your local florist, the sooner you can sit back and bask in the way you neatly wrapped up all your gift-giving this year. And when December rolls around again, all those “Oh you don’t have to” people will be saying, “All I want for Christmas is flowers!”
The holidays are here and there’s no better way to celebrate than decorating your home with floral goodness. It doesn’t matter which holiday you’re celebrating, your local florist has everything needed to make something unique and beautiful. Here are three hot holiday florals to make your season bright!
One of the hot floral items any holiday season is floral centerpieces! These make the perfect decorations for placing on dinner tables, end tables or fireplace mantles.
