Local Florist Urges Local Shopping This Valentines Day

We had a similar update earlier this week about a florist talking to their local news station about the obstacles of ordering flowers online. Well, we’ve spotted another one. This florist is also one of our great members, Hawley’s Florist in Rutland, VT.

This video explains more specifically how an order gatherer takes their cut of the order before sending it to a local florist to fill. An order gather is a kind of middle man for florists, taking their cut before sending the order to a real florist.

Searching for a local florist isn’t as easy as typing “City, ST Flowers” into Google. You might live in a town with only 1 flower shop, yet thousands of results are found. Many of these are deceptive middle-men who (1) take your order, (2) take their cut, and (3) pass on an order of lesser value for your local florist to fill. Ordering from a real local florist will ensure you receive the best flower arrangement at the full quality of your purchase.

You know exactly what you want and won’t stop until you’ve got it. Perhaps the person you are sending flowers to has a favorite flower that must be used. Maybe you have a specific centerpiece idea in mind and you must have it. Whether you are shopping in store, online or on the phone, make sure to ask about the specific items your arrangement must include.

A florist keeps a good amount of flowers in their cooler at all times. However, they can’t possibly have them all. When ordering flowers from pictures, such as on a florist’s website, sometimes substitutions will be made if the florist doesn’t have a particular flower. Same goes for vase style, ribbon, etc.

How To Get Exactly What You Want:

Call! To make sure the specific flowers/vase/etc you want get used in your arrangement, call and ask if they have them in stock. If they don’t have them in stock, the florist will explain what will be used to substitute, or how long it will take to get your full request in stock. If you are ordering specific flowers for an event, this is why it’s best to order in advance.

Florals End Quarrels!

In the dog house? With the stress of recent holidays and the new year, it’s understandable many loving couples are finding themselves quarreling during this time. It’s perfectly normal for couples to have disagreements, and sometimes making up can be worth the whole conflict.

Before things get too heated, step back from the situation and ask yourself, “Is all this arguing worth it?” More than likely, it’s not. When we stay mad, it affects our mind, body and more. Being angry makes it hard to stay focused and be productive.

Instead of staying mad at each other, take the higher road and apologize or come to a compromise. Show her she is more important to you than any squabble. Do something extra special and out of the ordinary for her, like sending flowers. This weekend was such a BUSY shopping weekend — Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday. Well, we decided today is Treat-Yourself Tuesday. Why not pamper yourself with all the money you SAVED over the weekend? Ever girl loves flowers; start your day of pampering by having flowers delivered to your home or office. It only takes about 5 minutes to order (remember local, local, local!), and your whole week will be enhanced by the beautiful flowers and lovely fragrances. Your florist will take care of everything and deliver them right to your door! (Santa better look out!)

If you shopped as much as I did, I know you need a pick-me-up this week, and fresh flowers are just the ticket! Some might hesitate at buying flowers for yourself, but why not? Forget red roses, you can choose a style that is all your own with your favorite colors and flowers. You might be surprised just how many beautiful types of floral designs are out there.
