Valentines Day flowers mean so much more than just a bundle of roses put together. If you want to really show how much you care, order EARLY! Take just a few minutes to call your florist and talk to them about your sweetie. When a florist knows what type of person they are designing for, they can make it truly personal.

Just by telling your florist just a few things about your honey, such as their age and basic interests, they will create something that is sure to be a hit! (And, guys, take it from a gal who knows, you WANT to send your girl beautiful, meaningful flowers!)

It a recent news article, one of our florist friends, Marybeth Flowers, owner of Flowers by Flowers in Parkville, Md., says, “RUN, don’t walk away from the idea of giving roses to your sweetheart.”

Of course, roses are the traditional Valentine’s gift, but why not send her a flower arrangement to truly IMPRESS?! Tell your florist her favorite flowers and colors and let them do something truly personal! (Trust me guys, style goes a long way to us ladies!)

“You don’t need to know every flower available or even the types of flowers the person likes most,” said Marybeth in her interview. “You know this person. You know how warm they are. Pantone Color of the Year Perfect For Valentines Day 2011

The official color of 2011 is honeysuckle pink, which is fantastic news for florists and flower lovers! The luscious reddish-pink is available in many varieties of flowers, and looks great paired with almost any style.

Pantone has been the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries for over 50 years. (If you’ve ever worked in print media, or other design occupations, you definitely know Pantone!) Their color of the year program started in 2000, but it seems only recently to have hit the masses. The official color of 2010, turquoise, was a spot-on choice. Only time will tell if honeysuckle pink will be as popular, but so far so good!

Since Valentines Day is coming up, think of how to incorporate honeysuckle pink into your Valentine’s Day flowers. You might choose to send a bouquet of pink roses, or a mixture of flowers featuring the popular pink. The best thing about the color is it’s ability to work with any style or color.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, “In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues. What We Are Really Sending On Valentines Day

We have exactly 6 days til Valentines Day or 5 depending on how you want to count it. Other than Christmas, Valentines Day is the most anticipated holiday. Children can’t wait to see what their parents and friends give them. They anxiously fill out their Valentines cards making sure to include one for each member of their class. Office chatter revolves around what might be sent or done for Valentines Day. Hints are dropped and Valentines Day hopes are whispered. Flowers, balloon, candies and romantic dinners are the gifts sent to loved ones or special friends. But after reading Georgianne’s “Smile Blog” this morning, I realized that although those are the gifts we send on Valentine’s Day, that’s not what we are really sending.

Georgianne (along with her husband) is the owner of Monday Morning Flower and Balloon Co in Yardley Pa. Her blog gives a little insight into this florist’s life and passion. I often read her blog because she has a passion for flowers and a flair for creativity and, of course, because she is proud to be a New Jersey girl. But the post I read this morning, really spoke to me. I understand the time and effort that florists put into the week leading up to Valentines Day. It is like the day after Thanksgiving for retailers except they have to create every item that goes out of their shop. Many florists go into a Zen like mode the week of Valentines, becoming as Georgianne states “A well oiled machine indeed.” So I could relate to everything she expressed in her post. However, it was the next to the last sentence in the last paragraph that gave me an AHA moment – “Our motto is “Let us help you send someone a smile” and by golly, we’re doing just that!.”

It maybe Monday Morning Flower and Balloon Company’s motto but it is really what we are sending on Valentine’s Day. All the flowers and all the gifts we send on Valentines Day are a way for us to send what is really important a smile, a hug and the acknowledgment that the person we are sending to is very special and loved by us.

So thanks Georgianne for reminding me why I send flowers on Valentines Day.

How To Lovingly Say ‘You Have My Heart’

I can’t stop staring at this arrangement. There is too much to love about it! From the architecture of the design to its color scheme, I’m as much in love with this arrangement as can be which is why I’m choosing the “You Have My Heart” bouquet as February’s featured flower arrangement.

I’m not one of those women that gets caught up in chasing romantic things, but I’m definitely moved by the “awww” factor. Sweet and kind gestures still mean the world to me. When I first saw the “You Have My Heart” arrangement among our Valentines Day bouquets, so many things flashed in my mind.

This is one of those romantic gifts that I could instantly picture being presented to me by my sweetie. The romantic atmosphere, his sweet and nervous smile as he waits for my reaction—all of these things sprang forward. I found myself instantly smiling. I called him at work just to say, “I love you” and all he’d done was grace my imagination!

Being not a sickeningly sweet person by nature, we both knew that it took something big to make me feel inclined to act like one. We shared a giggle as I told him that it was actually a very pretty arrangement that I’d just stumbled across while looking at romantic bouquets in the photo gallery.

As far as the design scheme goes, transforming calcynia into a colorful pink heart is a great and simple idea. All it takes is a wood pick with floral wire. Heather also works really well and has a slightly softer look. Pink roses, well, just about every girl loves pink roses. I’m delighted by the simplicity of tasks and the beauty of simple things, so this arrangement stood out to me instantly. I know your sweetheart will love it too!

You Can Now Have Valentines Day Flowers With A Great Message

Flowers sent on Valentine’s Day should express the feelings of the sender. Did you know that the Victorian Era gave each flower a special meaning? Florists can creatively arrange a bouquet of flowers using these meanings in order to convey a special message. But that’s only good if the flowers are delivered to someone who understands the flower meaning of each flower in the bouquet. What’s tricky is that flowers can have more than one meaning (sometimes a positive one and a negative one). If the person sending flowers has a different perspective than the person who receives the flower arrangement, interpretation becomes a risky proposition. It is of utmost importance that the message is not lost in the translation. That’s where florists come to the rescue.
