Ask the Expert: Can you help identify this plant
We bought this plant last year and did not keep the tag and can’t remember what it was. It has bloomed so beautifully this year and are hoping to find out what it is so we can purchase more like it. Can you please help us identify the plant? I has been in bloom for about a week now.
Thank you! Cheryl

You have a variegated weigela which is a shrub that attracts hummingbirds.
i am wondering i have a varigated weigela and i am moving can i take a cutting from the shrub and make it grow………..
You need to take a cutting from the woody tissue close to the new growth. Be sure to dip the cut end in rooting hormone before you stick it in the soil. You will need to keep the soil very moist until the roots form.
If your weigela is of some size or well established, you need to trim at least a 1/3 of it back. This will give the plant a better chance of surviving transplant shock. I would also use root stimulator or Vitamin B1 when you transplant it.
Good luck – Keep me posted.
