About Administrative Professionals Week
- Administrative Professionals Week is always
celebrated during the last week in April. This year it will be held April
20-26. Administrative Professionals Day is celebrated annually on the Wednesday
during that week.
- The event was started by Mary C. Barrett, president
of the National Secretaries Association, and C. King Woodbridge, president of
Dictaphone Corporation, in conjunction with public relations executive Harry
Klemfuss in 1952. The group started the event to recognize those in the field
and encourage others to follow that career path.
- According to the International Association of
Administrative Professionals (IAAP), the theme for the 2008 holiday is “Moving
Forward.” The idea is to focus on administrative professionals who work at
moving their career forward.
- According to the IAAP, there are more than 4.2
million administrative assistants and secretaries employed in the US in 2006.
There are millions of administrative professionals worldwide.
- The most common job titles for members of IAAP in a
2005 survey are executive assistant, executive secretary, office manager or
supervisor, and secretary.
Show your support team how much they mean to you. Send them
flowers to let them know you appreciate them.
