The story of how Sweetest Day came to be began in Cleveland, Ohio, 1922.  Herbert Birch Kingston was a candy company employee who had an idea to bring smiles to faces of the elderly, orphans, and others whom he believed could use a little cheer.  With the help of friends, he handed out sweet treats to the underprivileged in the community and Sweetest Day was born!
